Summary: The Other Doctor leaves Rose a note. Warning...it's not a happy note.

Notes: This vid is an adaptation of a fic I once did the dabble dance with. Simply put, the fic progressed as such that Handy (10.5, blue!Ten, The Other Doctor, or whatever you want to call him) ultimately ends up committing suicide because I believe that the impossibility of a Human-Time Lord Metacrisis should work both ways. Donna just can't be the only victim. And if the result is that Donna falls apart physically, wouldn't it be interesting if Handy falls apart emotionally? And in the end, they'd both be "gone."

It's a dark idea, oh yes, but to me there is no happy ending for Rose and Handy. They're the most fucked up couple EVAR with excessive baggage on both sides. This is just the end result, this vid. A glimpse of him shattering. He's a Wolf Dog, someone torn between two instincts, someone created to be used. Someone that would never be a whole person.

~ Epic epic THANK YOU to ponderous77 for the endless Handy talk. Good times, my friend. Good times.
~ And a super special thank you to Keeley Hawes for starring in Flashbacks of a Fool because otherwise ohvienna would never have found that amazing footage that made this vid come to life. Kisses to you both! (Om nom nom nom...)

THE NOTE

Last night I dreamt of regeneration.
There was a beach, an ocean.
My feet whispered in the sand. I walked in the dust.
And no one was there to stop me.
The water was too cold. The waves blinded me. I couldn't breathe.
Everything burned. And it felt good.
For the first time I was weightless, timeless...
Two hearts, Rose. I became, again.

But here I can't be. I'm impossible and I feel it.
And you must feel it too.
He would run before he unraveled. He's selfish that way.
And Rose...so am I.

Signed, the Doctor.

I have no words.
I'm not even sure I like the story, but it was amazing.
I have problems with this pairing, because I see the angst but they're the same Doctor and Rose, so they must find a happy place somewhere, because that's who they are but then again, she will never forget the real Doctor and that he's not the one.

I wrote a story about them, and they had ups and down, there was a lot of angst and she had to learnt to accept him, because for him she was stll the same Rose Tyler, so it was like she was rejecting the real Doctor. But when I finally start to like the couple and I reach the happy ending, I think: No way, they're allways going to have this complex and confused relationship, they can never have a true happy ending.

First of all, thank you for watching! :) I'm thrilled you like the vid.

As far as the story goes...well these two are full of juicy angst! I love that there's such a wide spectrum for them and I completely respect the fact that you want them to be happy. It's certainly the first instinctual response in all of us. When we see that kiss in the episode we want to believe it's a happy ending! But it's just not. :/ It can never be.

OMG, WOMAN!!! 0_o This comment!!!

Ok first of all...THANK YOU!!! Jebus, I'm sooooo psyched you liked it this much! :D Hope you had some wine to calm your nerves and shaky hands, lol. ;)

I love the paint look. And did you write all that text?
Ah the paint look! I'm pleased it's getting approval. I wanted the whole thing to look really surreal, and since it's sort of dream-like and odd, I figured I could get away with making it look a bit bizarre. And in terms of the text, I did indeed write it. My roommate, ponderous77, was my beta. :)

I was thinking at first that while I don't TenToo/Rose would have it easy right off, I do think they'd end up happy and this I can't imagine, but you did it SO convincingly, it really felt like the Doctor was speaking.
Yay! Well this is great! Because I was just saying in the comment above how I admire the fact that this subject has such a wide spectrum of fanon. Everyone takes something different out of it. There are so many possibilities for the story. And I'm glad you were able to be open to this interpretation just fort a little bit.

1:27 with the turning clock and the spiraling water, whoa. That really stood out for me, and it's so symbolic. Why are you so good with the symbolism?!?! Why!? *dies*
HAHAHAHAHA! Well thank you. :P Symbolism is the shit. Lol I totes heart it.

1:31 - 1:46 is my absolute favorite part of this vid.
Once again, thank you! You picked out the best punches. This section was a biggie in terms of climax, both in the text and in the music, and it all had to culminate in equating the two Tens to be the same guy who leaves Rose behind on that damn beach alone and sobbing.

Ok, I must say again that I'm beyond ecstatic at the reaction this vid has provoked in you! I couldn't have asked for a better reception. :D I'm so glad you liked it enough to edit this a bagillion times (which I don't mind at all lol) and I've got you the song right here. It's completely hypnotic. I literally heard it on the train one day and BOOM, it just called to be vidded with something speshul. Enjoy it, buddy. ;)

Edit: Ha! Look who's editing now? I just had a weirdo super big space at the bottom and had to get rid of it cuz it was ugmo.

wow.. that is.

just. wow.

This is amazing. It's beautiful. And so tragic. And I don't really know a lot about the history of the Doctor/Rose relationship, but the emotion in this vid came through so powerfully that didn't matter in the least.

Hey thanks! I'm glad the tragedy came through even if you're not that familiar with the history. They're just so fucked up! The fucked up-edness shines through, lol! Glad you liked. ;)

Gorgeous and bleak. I love the whole idea of 10.5 killing himself, and the scenario is totally believable.

Oh, I love love love Handy so very much. I love him when he is made of crack and I love the angst too. He really has the power to make me weep. Bah!

As a sidenote, I watched Flashbacks of a Fool the other day as well (yes, just for the Keeley factor), and oh I loved it so much. Roxy Music FTW.

Eeeee! Thanks, yo! So glad the Handy love comes through, that tragic boy. He makes me sigh.

AHHH OMG AWESOME! You know, if I didn't have this Flashbacks footage my backup for Handy-Drowns-Himself footage was Mafyoo in Spooks. So either way, Keeley's involved. :)

You continue to wow me with every video you post. That was AMAZING. And depressing. And I love you. ♥

THAT WAS BUGGING ME, TOO. How come Donna becomes all crazy when Ten II is also human? Wouldn't his brain go buggy as well? Buuut I definitely think if that happened Rose wouldn't just sit there, she'd do something about it, plucky as she is.
cortexiphan juice box: [dw] the DoctorDonnahollywoodgrrl on October 5th, 2008 09:31 pm (UTC)
Aw, thank you! :)

In terms of Handy and his functionality, well I spent way too much time trying to rationalize RTD's absLKBFkbf writing and what I've come up with is this: Donna falls apart because she is fully human but sort of absorbs the Time Lord brain. Her human body can't function. Now Handy is technically supposed to be "born" from his Time Lord hand as well as some Donna DNA or whatever, so he's human with Time Lord memories or some such bollocks. To me what makes sense is that just like Donna falling apart because a human can't handle being part Time Lord is that a Time Lord can't function being human. There's just something about the anatomy that should effect that both. And if there's nothing wrong with the anatomy then something else should make him crumble. That's why I wanted to make him emotionally unstable. It's only fair and sound.

Holy, moly. I'm speechless. Absolutely speechless.
Because what you just displayed there could really happen. I'm always trying to see it as positive as possible but your vid got me thinking.

Wow, it's so very, very powerful. It's horrible to see the Doctor pained like this.
Also, I love the quotes you put in. Every word is so very true, especially "He's selfish that way. And so am I". I got goosebumps at that point.

As I said before: this is wonderfully carried out. It's powerful, shows exactly the right emotions without being too offensive. Well done, I really loved this.
cortexiphan juice box: [dw] i'm a pitbull in timehollywoodgrrl on October 5th, 2008 11:55 pm (UTC)
:) Thanks! I'm extremely pleased by the fact that this got you thinking. That's all I've been doing since Journey's End because it was all so puzzling! The best part of this whole story is the fact that so much can come out of it in terms of interpreting the ending. And it's all fair game. I just can't see them being happy as they are sort of star-crossed lovers. And that's why Doctor/Rose is such a great love story. Because it's always tragic like that. ;)
Nickyobsessive24 on October 4th, 2008 04:51 pm (UTC)
That's wonderful and gorgeous. I love the concept, and the execution is just beautiful. The external footage really really made it come alive and I also loved the watercoloury painty effect.

I know I usually leave you very lengthy comments, and again this is so very deserving of that.

But I can't.

This vid hit too close to home, not just fandom-wise, and I'll just say that it's so very beautiful, in the most tragic way, and it punched me it the gut.
cortexiphan juice box: [dw] bells for herhollywoodgrrl on October 6th, 2008 12:07 am (UTC)
Dude. NO PROBLEM AT ALL! I don't ever expect anything lengthy so don't worry about it! Especially not in a situation like this. I'm very sorry that this effected you so personally. Of course it was never my intention to make anyone uncomfortable. It's supposed to stay within the context of the fandom. But I'm still very grateful you even managed to watch this. Thank you.

I'm practically speechless right now.

Everything about this piece is beautiful, surreal, and immensely tragic all at the same time. I love the look of it with the paint texture and the images of the ocean and the ticking clock. I'm just blown away by what you've done here. Amazing work.
