This Is My Hand | Vidder Self-Portrait [Vividcon Premieres '16]
Song: This Is My Hand
Artist: My Brightest Diamond
Source: Multifandom
Links: download | streaming | tumblr

Summary: Blood, sweat and tears. (Self-portrait of a vidder.)

Notes: Inspired by all the painters out there who truly looked at themselves in the mirror and took that image to canvas.

THIS IS MY HAND

This is my hand
This is my wrist
This is my arm
This is my fist
like a twisted vine wraps around entwining
This is my face
This is my mouth
This is my eye
This is my brow
like lilac wine pouring out to thee for thee
This is my shape
This is my form
This is my age
This is my frame
This is my mind
This is my voice
This is my heart
This is my choice
This is my thigh
This is my sex
This is my hip
This is my breast
This is my shadow
This is my height
This is my line
This is my doubt
This is my bloom
my flame
my joy
my aim
to love
to love
to love
This is my shape
This is my form
This is my age
This is my frame
This is my mind
This is my voice
This is my heart
This is my choice
This is my time
This is my breath
This is my right
This is my left
This is my shadow
This is my height
This is my line
This is my doubt
This is my bloom
my flame
my joy
my aim
to love

I was hoping there would be more notes! Like, what you discovered about yourself or your art while making this, etc.

This would be an excellent vid by itself, even without the awesome concept. I really dig that you used vids both finished and unfinished, since unfinished ones are just as much a part of your creative output.

LMAO! "More notes" what is this, 2009? ;)

To answer your question, this vid seemed really easy to make at first, like how hard would it be to vid your own stuff? But it was one of the most difficult vidding experiences I've ever had. Maybe because the song required me to be so honest, and I think I wasn't prepared at just how honest I'd have to be, so it turned out therapeutic and freeing but also simultaneously brutal. I think since I was premiering it at Vividcon I did add a bit more meta vidding stuff into the spine of the vid to try and include others into this, not sure if it worked or not, but certainly those visuals can be applied to myself directly as well. At the end of the day I think I would recommend this as an experience, but watch out because it will make you feel weird about yourself lol.

Thank you so much for your continuous comments on my vids. I really appreciate it!
